I wasn’t making profit from shooting music videos before 2023, says TG Omori

Popular Nigerian music video director, TG Omori has disclosed that he wasn’t making profits from shooting music videos before 2023.
Despite being heavily sought after, the cinematographer said he was in a bad production debt for five years and was only able to pay it off through money he made from his brand.
In a recent interaction with a fan on X, Omori stated that Nigerian creatives pass through a lot in the industry.
The fan asked, “How do you know how much the entire production would cost and still properly infuse your own profit so as not to undercharge or overcharge?”
He replied, “I only started making profits in 2023. Every time I’m losing money from pick up shoots or something! Budget is never enough, in fact I was in bad production debt for 5years. Just had to live with it, I was paying up and taking more to cover up. I was only able to pay it off through money my brand and personality was fetching me. It’s a tough life for creatives. Hug a creative beside you today.”
In 2023, music star Davido revealed in an interview with Beats FM Lagos that he paid TG Omori a whooping N100 million to shoot the video of his hit song, ‘Jowo.’
Omori later confirmed the payment in a social media post.
