Two persons suspected to be members of a secret cult confraternity were shot dead on Friday in Awka, the Anambra State capital.
The incident occured during a bloody clash by rival cult groups.
It was learnt that the clash took place at Ukwuorji, an area near Eke Awka Market, popular for harbouring notorious elements.
A source, who witnessed the attack, said it happened at about 11am at Ukwuoji bus stop, along Zik’s Avenue.
He said that the hoodlums, numbering about five, invaded the area in a tinted glass car, shot their victims and also shot indiscriminately into the air, before they escaped.
According to him, “We were all there when it happened, and immediately gunshots started going up in the air, everyone scampered for safety, and the cultists used the opportunity to escape.”

“Information gathered at the scene from the eyewitnesses showed it was cult related,” he stated
