By Francis Ajuonuma
Attacking sensation, Israel Abia says he is excited to rejoin Rangers International of Enugu after a loan spell at Saudi Arabian second division side, Al-Rawdhah.

Abia, who spent a season at Al-Rawdhah, making 14 appearances and scoring 16 goals to help the club finish sixth in group A of the second division table, said he is back at the Flying Antelopes to help the club seal a continental ticket at the end of the ongoing NPFL 2021/2022 season.

Rangers are very much in contention for a top place finish in the league as they presently sit fourth on the NPFL table with 12 matches remaining and are also in the race for the AITEO Challenge Cup.

Speaking after his first training session with the seven-time Nigeria league champions, Abia, who holds the record of netting four times in a league match and top scorer in the 2019-2020 season said he is back with loads of experience to make the Flying Antelopes more competitive.

“My coming back to the team, Rangers, I believe will to a very large extent, help us to push for a good finish to the season. Remember that Rangers is a great team that has large followership and with the squad, we have now, I am optimistic that a continental ticket would not elude us,” said the fast-paced attacking sensation.

Abia’s expected inclusion in the squad will give Rangers opponents cause for concern as he joins the likes of Elijah Ani, Ossy Martins, Christian Nnaji, Ikechukwu Eboko, Obiora Emeka, and Chinonso Eziekwe in the attacking line.
