
The Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Kennedy Ibeh has donated 100% of his salary as a speaker to all the 6 LGA youth leaders of Okigwe zone while his Deputy, Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu also donated 100% of his salary as a Deputy Speaker to his 11 youth leaders of his Nwangele state constituency and the 4 youth leaders from his federal constituency starting from January 2022.
The Speaker and his Deputy who spoke during a working visit Tuesday evening to the state secretariat of their party – All Progressives Congress (APC) where the state party Chairman, Ebere Macdonald Kelechi together with his state working committee received the Speaker and his Deputy and entourage.
To make it binding and not just mere political promises, the speaker and the Deputy speaker wrote to the Clark of the house in their two separate letters giving authorization to effect what they have promised.
“I write to direct that you credit 100% of my salary as the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly effective from January 2022 to the Six Youth Leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Okigwe
Zone, to wit:
1. Obowo, 2. Thitte /Uboma, 3. Ehime Mbano, 4. Isiala Mbano, 5. Onuimo, 6. Okigwe
Above is in keeping with my commitment to ensuring the growth of my party, the All Progressive Congress in Okigwe Zone, Imo State, and Nigeria at Large.” wrote the speaker in a letter he personally signed to the clark of the house to honor his promise.
“In Keeping with promises and Committment to my people of Nwangele State Constituency, the quadruple Local Government Areas that Constitute my federal Constituency and of course, Imo State at large in ensuring a stronger and a better All Progressive Congress (APC), I hereby direct, that you credit 100% of my salary as Deputy Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly to the Eleven (11) APC Youth Leaders of Nwangele State Constituency and Four (4) APC Local Government Youth Leaders of Njaba, Isu, Nkwerre and Nwangele Federal Constituency.” wrote the Deputy Speaker.
Speaking after he handed over the letter to the state party Chairman, Iwuanyanwu said he was making this sacrifice to help the executive governor of the state, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma to empower the youths so as to take their minds away from crime and to positively engage them to stop all forms of social vices.

Supporting what the Deputy Speaker has done, the Honorable member representing the good of Oru East Hon. Chigozie Nwaneri during his speech said he was very elated by the courage of the lawmakers in sacrificing their salary for the betterment of their constituents, supporting the gesture, he announced to carry out same in his immediate state and federal constituency to assist the governor in youth empowerment.
Also towing the same line, the Honorable Commissioner for Youths and sports, Hon. Hamza Ogu said he was happy with what he was witnessing and promised to take care of the state youth leader of the party and his 27 youth leaders by the end of every month.
