Buhari Summoned Over Killing Of Borno Rice Farmers

At last the House of Representatives has summoned president Muhhamadu Buhari over the killings of Rice farmers in Zabarmari village, near Maiduguri in Borno State, last Saturday
He is to appear on a date to be announced later, to brief the House of Representatives on the true state of the security of the nation and what possibly his new plans on the national security structure of the country are.
Sponsored by 10 members of the House from the war torn North East , the motion which pitched members against one another in a rowdy plenary sitting and titled “‘Urgent need to condemn and investigate the insane killing of unarmed farmers in Jere local government of Borno state” was among other considerations, condemning the killing of unarmed civilian farmers at Zabarmari village Here constituency near Maiduguri, in Borno State by unsuspected Boko Haram Insurgency last Saturday, 28th November, 2020.
The motion also resolved to call on the Central Bank to immediately key in farmers at Zabarmari and environs to the dry season rice farming projects and look into the ongoing anchor Program to proper harvest recovery, and requested a minute silence to be observed in honour of the victims of the incidence that lost their lives
Things went awry during the debate of the general principles of the motion, when Ahmed Satomi who led members in the debate omitted one of the resolutions, which was to summon President Buhari to brief the House on the state of the security situation of the country.
The development, disrupted the session after Ahmadu Jaha representing Chibok, faulted Satomi for declining to mention the main objective of the motion bothering on summoning the President
Jaha explained that it was necessary to bring in Mr President to also explain efforts he has made ,especially the funds he has approved and the personal and official advise as Commander- in chief of the Armed forces , he has proffered for the fight against Insurgency.
Particularly he said the President has often charged the military to take the offensive to the door steps of the insurgents and not playing the defensive role
Jaha’s position which was carried by majority of the members present, was maintained in spite of entreaties made by the speaker Femi Gbajabiamila and the House leader, Ado Doguwa
The Speaker in his wisdom admonished on the security implications of asking the President to come openly to parliament and talk about security issues which could jeopardize the strategies already put in place by the military in prosecuting the war against Insurgents
The continuous noisy situation called for an executive session requested by the Speaker
Upon resumption from the closed door, the Speaker called on the agitated Jaha to move for a fresh amendment on the prayer of the motion, which insisted on summoning President Buhari.
A new Prayer was moved and after a voice vote, majority voted to summon President Buhari
