The third edition of the Face of Africa Leadership Award, hosted by Triangle News International, became a mighty chorus of affirmations as African leaders and change makers gathered in London over the weekend to honour excellence and chart a path forward under the theme, “Digital Governance: Opportunities and Challenges.”
At the heart of the night were the voices that echoed a united message — Africa must embrace its digital evolution with purpose, integrity, and visionary leadership.
In his opening remarks, Triangle News International CEO Femi Salako declared that the event was not just about accolades but about igniting partnerships and ideas that will power a digitally prosperous Africa.
“Let today ignite fresh ideas and lasting collaborations,” he charged, highlighting the importance of pride and ownership in telling Africa’s story.
Keynote speaker, Prof Ojo Ademola, a renowned cybersecurity expert, delivered a data-driven call to action.
He underscored the need for investments in digital education, responsible data governance, and equitable access to technology.
“Africa’s digital future depends on inclusive and strategic investments,” he emphasised.
Fola Braimoh echoed this urgency, advocating for leadership that prioritises digital tools as engines of growth and inclusion.
Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who served as the Special Guest of Honour, praised the platform for spotlighting Africa’s strengths on the world stage.
“This celebrates the spirit of our continent,” he said. “I urge Nigerians in the diaspora to keep flying our flag with pride and integrity.”
In a special message, the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, acknowledged the event’s significance, calling the gathering “a testament to Africa’s rising global influence.”
From diplomats like Commander Collins Preye Mezeh, Deputy Defence Adviser at the Nigeria High Commission, to a robust line-up of award recipients — including Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Mohammed Bago, and Lucky Aiyedatiwa; Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN); Seyi Tinubu; and Abike Dabiri — the message was clear: Africa’s leadership is asserting itself globally with innovation, impact, and pride.
The event, held at the prestigious RHB 300 Hall of Goldsmiths, University of London, was more than a celebration — it was a rallying point for Africans, both at home and in the diaspora, to lead with vision, embrace the digital frontier, and tell their own stories with confidence.
