Inflation: Return cashless policy, Yul Edochie appeals to Tinubu

Nigerian actor and filmmaker, Yul Edochie, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to re-implement the cashless policy.
The politician argued that the decision will curb inflation and the spate of kidnapping in Nigeria.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, Edochie, a supporter of President Tinubu and member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, backed the policy.
He urged the president to consider implementing it to increase the value of the Naira, curb insecurity and inflation.
Edochie wrote, “To my leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu
I humbly suggest you bring back the cashless policy. When it was introduced by the previous administration, it increased the value of the naira tremendously.
It helped to bring down prices of goods and it made 5 naira, 10, 20 and 50 naira notes regain value.
The cashless policy also helped to reduce kidnapping massively.
Consider it again Sir. Thank you Your Excellency.” (sic)
Recall that the president had in 2023, queried the implementation of the policy made by the administration of Godwin Emefiele as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) which led to a serious cash crunch in the country weeks before the general elections.
