Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has credited the rapid pace of infrastructure development across the territory to the strong backing and insistence on timely project execution by President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking on Wednesday after inspecting a series of ongoing and completed projects in Abuja, Wike said the President’s hands-on approach and commitment to quality service delivery have been key drivers of the administration’s achievements.
According to him, Tinubu not only provides the necessary support but also ensures strict adherence to timelines and standards, a factor he described as critical to sustaining the current development momentum.

“When the President gives you support and also demands results in terms of quality and delivery time, there is no room for excuses,” Wike said, adding that the administration’s progress reflects a leadership focused on delivering basic infrastructure for residents.
The minister explained that regular project inspections remain a core strategy for monitoring contractors’ performance, ensuring that work is executed to specification and completed as scheduled.
During the tour, Wike expressed satisfaction with work on the Arterial Road S1 project, which stretches from Ring Road II to the FCT Fire Service Station in Kaura District. He commended the quality and speed of construction, noting that the project is on track for completion within the next five months.
He also inspected the extension of Obafemi Awolowo Way (N5), linking Gwarimpa, Life Camp, Dape District, and Karmo, confirming that the road project has been fully completed and is set for inauguration as part of activities marking Tinubu’s third year in office.
At the Nigerian Law School in Bwari, Wike reviewed newly constructed housing units for staff, comprising 10 bungalows. He confirmed that the buildings have been completed, furnished, and are ready for occupation.

The minister further assessed the construction of male and female hostels for students. While expressing satisfaction with the progress on the female hostel, which is expected to be completed by November, he voiced concern over the pace of work on the male hostel.
Wike noted that although the male hostel project appears to meet quality standards, its progress falls short compared to the female hostel, despite both contracts being awarded and mobilised at the same time. He, however, said the contractor has assured that the project will be delivered between October and November.

He also disclosed that a contract has been awarded for the construction of an auditorium within the institution, with work expected to commence soon.
