The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) has revealed that they are responsible for the Tuesday attack on the Kuje Correctional Centre.

The terrorist group confirmed this in a video released on Wednesday night.

In the video, members of the group were seen shooting sporadically and igniting explosives to in order to gain enterance into the facility.

Thisnigeria reported that bandits on Tuesday night attacked Kuje Prison, in which over 600 inmates escaped during the attack on the facility that lasted for more than an hour in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

However, the Nigeria Correctional Centre said they have recaptured 443 prisoners so far, and efforts are ongoing to recapture other fleeing inmates.
