The Iyalode of Yorubaland, Chief Mrs. Alaba Lawson, is dead.
She died in the early hours of Saturday.
Executive Secretary of the Abeokuta Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ABEOCCIMA), AbdulRahman Maku, confirmed her death in a statement.
The statement read: “We regret to announce the demise of NACCIMA Past President and ABEOCCIMA Matron, as well as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Iyalode Alaba Lawson, MFR, F.IoD, JP (Iyalode of Yorubaland). Her passing occurred in the early hours of today, Saturday, October 28th, 2023. Burial arrangements will be announced later by the family.
“May God Almighty grant repose to the soul of Iyalode. Amen.”
Lawson was the Iyalode of Egbaland, and the past president of ABEOCCIMA and NACCIMA.
