- Governor Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa state has presented a 2021 budget proposal of N156,588.5b to the floor of the state House of Assembly.
Governor Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa state has presented a 2021 budget proposal of N156,588.5b to the floor of the state House of Assembly.
He stated that the budget of N156,588.5b for the services of Jigawa state government from January to December 2021 was higher than that of 2020 by 29 per cent.
The budget tagged ” Budget of sustained economic growth and social transformation with emphasis on Agriculture, Health, Education, Water and Sanitation, among others.
According to Governor Badaru government will placed premium on diversification of the agricultural sector in various ways to pave way for the provision of gainful employment through empowerment initiatives to peasant farmer’s, and the youths, among the enhancement of other social services to the entire Jigawa populace.
Education takes the lead with the provision of over N19.9b, followed by Health with N12.24b among other sectors in the provision of essential services to the people of Jigawa state.
The proposed budget consists of N78,346,400,000 for recurrent expenditure, while capital expenditure has N78,241,600 with a difference of about 0.1 per cent, stressing both the recurrent, and capital expenditures ratio was almost 50.50 per cent.
Governor Badaru announced that the budget will be financed through capital receipts and reimbursements, refunds in respect of defunct PHCN ground rents, World Bank Grants in respect of SFTAS and new CARES, UBEC and TET funds Grants for primary and tertiary education, among other sources.
Responding, Jigawa state Speaker, Hon. Idris Garba Jahun assured Governor Badaru of speedy passage of the proposed budgets for the provision of essential services to the people of Jigawa state.
