Yoruba Nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has been released from prison in Benin Republic.
This was announced in a statement issued by the the Umbrella body of Yoruba Self-determination Groups, Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide.
According to the statement signed by the group’s Communications Secretary, Maxwell Adeleye, Igboho was released to the leader of the group, Banji Akintoye on Monday.
Akintoye described the release of Igboho as “a triumph of truth over darkness in Yorubaland.”
Recall that the Department of State Services had stormed Sunday Igboho’s Soka residence on July 1, 2021 and killed two of his aides.
The DSS also arrested 12 of his aides who were later released after months in detention at its headquarters in Abuja.

Igboho, however, fled Nigeria after he was declared wanted by the secret police for allegedly stockpiling arms and ammunition to destabilise Nigeria through calls for secession.
Subsequently, He was arrested by the Interpol at an airport in Cotonou on July 19, 2021
