Kano gets 47 new female doctors

The Kano State primary health sector on Friday got a boost as 47 fresh female medical graduates arriving on completion of their medical studies abroad.
The new doctors, whose studies were bankrolled by the Kano State Government, were enlisted into foreign universities in 2014 to study in diverse fields of Medicine.

The Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Kano State governor, Abba Anwar, said the newly trained female doctors were all Kano natives.
He said the new doctors had concluded their Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programmes before returning home.
Anwar said they were trained at Al-Ahfad and Ombdurman universities in Sudan.
He disclosed that the doctors arrived at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) at about 11pm on Friday night.
They were later handed over to their parents by top state government, the CPS stated.
According to him, the doctors, throughout the duration of their studies in Sudan, were good ambassadors.
“We did not receive any disturbing information from Sudan, and today, they are back.” Anwar said.
He further disclosed that the state government had expended over $2m on their study fees abroad.
