KFN President, Fausat Yekini outlines her agenda for Nigeria Karate

 

Newly elected President of the Karate Federation of Nigeria ( KFN ), Mrs, Fausat Dehinde Yekini, has outlined her main priorities for the federation as she hits the ground running.

Popularly refered to as “Iyalaje World Wide”, Mrs Yekini who is the chairperson of the Kogi State Karate Association, has created the record as the first woman ever elected as the President of the KFN and indeed Africa.

She is at the forefront when it comes to Karate development in this part of the world . Her contributions in Kogi State karate development where she was spotlighted before climbing the ladder to become KFN’s President, speaks volume, hence the overwhelming support she received at the polls.

As a business woman, Mrs Fausat Dehinde Yekini from Kogi State North Central, remained a great lover of Martial Arts ( Combat sports), hence her great support for sports especially Karate in the country.

However, the newly elected Karate Federation President said her primary focus is grassroots development which will aid in establishing dynamic culture for Karate in Nigeria.

According to her, Nigeria has what it takes to rule the entire continent when it comes to Karate because of the abundant talents talents we have.

” If properly harnessed, there is no doubt that the country will be the mecca of Karate sport in Africa.

On funding, the ‘Iyalaje World Wide’, was quick to say that sports is indeed capital intensive for government to do it all alone and pleaded with the private sector to keep investing in sports so that together, we can raise the bar having realized that government can not go it alone.

She praised the leadership of the National Sports Commission (NSC ) for conducting what she described as a flawless election and prayed that the system be sustained.

Mrs Fausat Yekini, defeated Engr. Chukwudi Dimkpa from the South South by eight votes to five, to emerge victorious as the President of the Karate Federation of Nigeria at the election that also involved other Federations held on saturday 25 October, 2025 at the package “B” of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
