Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made a spot-on remark when he qualified Washington’s approach to Moscow as “dumb”, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.

Peskov while speaking with reporters expressed the belief that it was OK to use any wording, given the unpredictability and aggressiveness of the United States’ behavior.

“Because of the unpredictability, aggressiveness, harshness, and unfriendliness of the U.S. policy on our country, it is possible to use literally any vocabulary to describe this policy.

“I have nothing more to add.

“The minister is always precise in his wording,” Peskov told reporters when asked if the Kremlin agreed with the assessment and if it thought describing the U.S. policy in those terms was appropriate.

Commenting on recent reports about potential diplomats’ expulsion and new sanctions by the U.S., she said Russia was ready for the worst developments in its relations with the United States.

“When your interlocutor is quite aggressive and unpredictable, you are naturally mobilised all the time.

“In general, it seems the number of your questions about the Russian-U.S. relations largely exceeds the volume of these relations,” Peskov told reporters, asked if Russia is preparing to resist the potential new restrictions.

Russia still does not want the relations to degrade, the Kremlin spokesman assured.

“We have never posed a threat to anyone, but we will certainly not allow anyone, including the U.S., to threaten us, to tell us what we should do, and to infringe on our interests,” Peskov stressed.
