Labour unions give reason for suspending strike

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have given reason for suspended the nationwide strike.
The strike which commenced on Monday was called to protest the failure of the Federal Government to approve new minimum wage by May 31 as well as its failure to reverse the hike in electricity tariff.

However, the industrial action came to an end on Tuesday after a six-hour meeting between the Federal Government and the leadership of organised labour in Abuja on Monday night.
Confirming this development on Tuesday, the TUC chairman, Festus Osifo, said the unions’ decision is to give room for uninterrupted meetings with the tripartite committee on the new national minimum wage.
