Lady seek justice, punishment over a domestic assault by hubby

A lady, Mrs. Olowojoba Eshoitita Olawale has reported how she was assaulted by her husband, Mr.Akinboboye Olawale in Ota Ogun state and she is seeking the intervention of government, spirited Nigerians to enable her to get justice and punishment over domestic violence against her by her husband.

Mrs. Olawale narrating her ordeal in a phone interview stated that trouble started when she attempted to prevent the husband from using excessive force on enforcing discipline on their 6 years old son whom the husband said was found sucking his tongue.

She narrated that after the husband pursued her son to the room, and was hitting him, she felt worried and struggle with the husband to separate the son from him then took him to the living room, the husband who was not done still came in and asked the son to kneel down and resume the beating.

She disclosed that it was in the process of trying to stop him again that the hubby forcefully hit her with an object in her left eye and it started gushing out blood.

According to Mrs. Olawale: ” It was yesterday. My husband was with the children and he was trying to correct or discipline one of them. So, the way he was correcting the child was not okay at all. I went to beg him that he will not do that again. The boy was crying seriously.

” He continued beating the boy with a belt. I couldn’t hold it. Then I went to him that it is okay. That I beg him in the name of God. He pushed me away. Then I left and went to the parlor and he was still crying. After beating the boy to his satisfaction, he came out again and told him to kneel.

“While the boy was begging him, he now faced me and said he was going to beat me. And that whenever he is trying to correct the boy I should not interfere. I told him he is our son and he should not be using such force on him. He said no, no. Before you knew it, he started beating me and eventually injured me in my eye”, she said.

Meanwhile, Mr Akinboboye Olawale responding to these allegations of beating his wife said it is a family matter.

” You know in family stuff happened. What happens is a function of when you are pushed to the wall consciously or out of frustration. I don’t want to generalize it. An average person will not just choose to do evil.

It is to be noted that a non-profit organization, Committee for the Defense of Human Rights, CDHR, have taken up the matter by inviting the husband to their office to also state his own side of the issue.

The matter has also been reported at the Obasanjo police station in Ota, Ogun state.
