
All is now set for the 2nd edition of the National Deaf Table Tennis Championship would hold from 13-14 December, 2024 at the knock up hall of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), National Stadium Surulere, Lagos.
According to joint press statement signed by the President of Deaf Supporters Development Initiative (DSDI), Afolabi Dahunsi and the Chairman, Amuda Yusuf Ibrahim who is still basking in the euphoria of a recently organized successful West Africa Deaf Football/ Athletics Championship held in Lagos, under his leadership, this year’s Championship is aimed at celebrating the 2024 International Day for persons with disability which comes up 3rd December every year.
The Championship is also tailored at amplifying the leadership potentials of Deaf persons in the society to show that they can become celebrities in the modern world through active participation in sports.
The statement also revealed that players have since been invited from the six geo-political zones to participate in the two-day championship fixed for 13 and 14 December, 2024
This year’s Championship is in conjunction with the Nigeria Deaf Sports Federation (NDSF) and the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) who are providing technical supports.
Like the maiden edition held in 2023, , winners will smile home with cash awards, trophies and certificates.
Meanwhile, due to the numerous challenges confronting deaf athletes in the country, the organisers are appealing to the corporate organisations and well meaning individuals to come to the aid of deaf sports through sponsorships and donations in order to harness and expose the hidden talents that abound there.
