National Principals Cup: Coach, athlete commend FG, Rivers govt.

Esuku Michael, a coach, and John Theophilus, an athlete, on Sunday commended both the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and Rivers Government on the National Principals’ Cup Competition.
Both the coach and athlete praised the Ministry and state government for giving opportunity to athletes to showcase their talents.
Michael told sportswriters after the competition’s zonal finals in the athletics segment at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt that the experience was worth it.
“I am very happy for the opportunity given to these students from their various schools, to come out and showcase their talents by participating in the zonal competitions.
“Some of them won and they are going for the national championship.
“So, I want to use this opportunity to thank the Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike, and the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development for the opportunity,” he said.
Theophilus, a student of Community Secondary School, Okochiri in Okrika LGA of Rivers, also thanked Gov. Wike for sponsoring secondary school students.
“I appreciate Gov. Wike for sponsoring us for the zonal trials and I plead with him to do more for us to go to the finals in Abuja,” the athlete who qualified in the 100 meters race, said.
Delta defeated Bayelsa 2-0 in the zonal football final of the competition at the Sharks Football Club Stadium in Port Harcourt.
In athletics, Rivers won the 200m and 100m, and were second and third in the discus event.
