Laide Bakare honoured as UN’s Ambassador for Peace
Nollywood actress, Laide Bakare has been honoured by the United Nations International Peace and Governing Council as its Ambassador for Peace.
According to the UN council, the actress, who is the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Gov. Ademola Adeleke of Osun State on Entertainment, Arts, Culture and Tourism deserves the honour for her effort to promote peace and unity globally.
Reacting, Bakare thanked the Council saying, “I’m deeply humbled to receive this recognition. I believe that peace is the foundation for progress and prosperity. I’ll continue to work tirelessly towards promoting understanding and cooperation among nations and communities.”
She called for the need for greater inclusion of women in politics, stressing her belief that women’s participation is crucial for achieving true representation and progress in society.
“Women make up a significant portion of our population, and their voices deserve to be heard. We need more women in leadership positions to bring diverse perspectives and ideas to the table,” Bakare noted.
She promises to promote peace in more communities.
