President Muhammadu Buhari will on Thursday commission the new headquarters of the Niger Delta Development Commission located at the Marine Base, Port Harcourt.
The ceremony, which would be done virtually, would however not be open to the public, according to the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godwsill Akpabio.
Akpabio told the press in Port Harcourt that the new head office of NDDC would place the commission in a position to perform its duties to the people of the Niger Delta.
He promised that the ongoing forensic audit of NDDC is to tackle corruption in the system. “By the time we finish the forensic audit, NDDC will change. If you look at NDDC, it is not just mismanagement in terms of corruption but it is corruption associated with the modus operandi,” he said.

The minister also said the Federal Government was determined to complete the East-West road. “We had to suspend 304 projects to raise funds to complete the East-West road,” Akpabio added.
