Crystal Palace saw off an uninspiring performance from Manchester United to win their first two games in the Premier League.
The match began on a slow foot, as both teams tried to settle in the game.
However, it was Townsend’s strike in the 7th minute that got the game going in earnest. A handball by Victor Lindelof gifted Crystal Palace a penalty.
The penalty was saved by David De Gea on the first take, but VAR ruled De Gea was out of his line and Wilfried Zaha scored a retake of the penalty.
Zaha went on to score the third goal after Manchester United’s new boy, Donny van de Beek, pulled one back for Manchester United.
The 3-1 loss at Old Trafford serves as a rude awakening to Manchester United as they now begin the league on the back foot, and they would question their inactivity in the summer transfer window.
