The Management of McPherson University has announced the appointment of Mrs. Aderonke Olukemi Adeofun as the second Substantive Bursar of the Institution.
In a statement by the acting Head of Information and Public Relations, Ehi Emhonyon, the new Bursar’s appointment was contained in a letter dated August 26, 2024, signed by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council, Rev Babatunde Idowu.
The statement read in part, “I have the pleasure to inform you that the Board of Trustees of McPherson University, at its meeting of August 22, 2024, approved the recommendation of the Selection Panel of the Governing Council that you be appointed as the University Bursar.”
She earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Zoology from the University of Ibadan in 1987 and Accounting from Crescent University, Abeokuta, in 2013, respectively. She also holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, FUNAAB, in 2011.
Adeofun is an astute administrator who qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2000 and became a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) in 2012. She is also a Chartered Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM). She took over the leadership of the Bursary Unit from Mr Ademola Osanyinro, who was the Acting Bursar from 2023, when the first substantive Bursar, Mr Yemi Onilado, FCA, completed his second-term tenure.
She has over two decades of work experience in the private and public sectors. As a young accountant, she worked as an Audit Trainee at Muyiwa Bunmi Ogunlela & Co., a firm of Chartered Accountants in Lagos. Mrs. Adeofun also plied her financial trade with Askar Paints, a manufacturing firm in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Adeofun joined the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, in July 1999 as a Principal Accountant and rose to Deputy Bursar, a post she held since May 2017 until her recent appointment as second substantive Bursar at McPherson University.
She effectively assumed her new office on October 2, 2024.
Beyond her professional experiences, Adeofun is active in community service and church activities. As a member of Foursquare Women International (FWI), Adeofun is married with two children and enjoys reading, traveling, and cooking.
