Mimiko mourns Ex-FUTA VC, Daramola

Former governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko has expressed shock over the death of Prof. Adebiyi Daramola, the former Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA).
The former VC died at the weekend after a brief illness.

His passage was announced through a statement signed by the Registrar of the varsity, Mr. Richard Arifalo.
Mimiko, in his condolence message,  said the deceased gave all his best, particularly in the development of science, technology, and mathematics education in the country.

He said “the news of the passing of immediate past Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), Prof. Adebiyi Daramola, came as a rude shock to me.

“No doubt, Prof Daramola gave his all to the development of FUTA in particular and the promotion of STEM education in Nigeria, in general.

“My heartfelt condolences to his family and the entire FUTA community. May his soul rest in peace”, he said.
Prof. Daramola, aged 64, was the 6th Vice-Chancellor of the school and served in FUTA between May 2012 and May 2017.
