The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), on Sunday pledged to redouble effort in the fight against terrorists, bandits and other rogue elements in the country.
Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Oladayo Amao made this pledge, while addressing congregants at an Interdenominational Church Service in commemoration of NAF at 58th Anniversary Celebration at Nigerian Air Firce Base, Bill Clinton Drive, Abuja.
“This anniversary presents a unique opportunity for us not only to celebrate but to reflect on the need to redouble our efforts in ensuring that our dear country is secured for all citizens to go about their legitimate aspirations,” the Air Chief said.
He appreciated the dedicated team of loyal officers, airmen/airwomen, civilian staff and the entire Nigerian Air Force family for their unwavering support, commitment, and selfless service over the years to the growth and development of the Nigerian Air Force.
According to Air Marshal Amao, “We live in challenging times especially as our nation is faced with myriads of security challenges. These challenges have no doubt tested our resolve and have seen our personnel toil day and night alongside our colleagues from other services and security agencies with commendable levels of successes.
“Our help has been from God and so we recognize that if not for God Almighty who has guided our steps, we wouldn’t have come this far. Hence, I am confident that as a Service and as nation, we will never relent in our effort at restoring stability in all areas affected by insecurity.
“Indeed, while we make progress towards peace, we also have every reason to be grateful to God as a nation in spite of the challenges we face. As members of the Nigerian Air Force family, we also have every reason to be proud of our achievements and where the Nigerian Air Force is currently at after 58 years of its existence. Today, the Nigerian Air Force is a key player in our nation’s security apparatus and in nation building. Let me enjoin us at this moment to continue to be hopeful and seek the face of our Lord Jesus Christ in all our undertakings. I remain confident that soon, good will surely prevail over evil. Be rest assured that we as a service will not rest until we bring our enemies to their knees. Let me also commend the efforts of our founding fathers for bequeathing to us an Air Force which today has become the pride of the nation”.
