Ahead of the June 18, governorship Poll in Ekiti state, the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) is set to conduct an acceptable, free and fair election in the state.
According to the Resident Electoral Commission in the State, Dr Adeniran Tella, part of the preparations is that the Commission had recently organised a workshop for voter education and publicity implementation for Electoral Officers (EOs), Assistant Electoral Officers (AEOs) and Gender Desk Officers in Ekiti state.
He assured all stakeholders that the election will be a record to beat in terms of operational efficiency going forward.

He said” It is also my aim to see that the bar of standard election achieved by the Commission so far is raised higher to the extent of making it a record to beat in subsequent elections.
“For organising workshops for officers of the commission as the state prepares for the governorship election, it was a clear indication of the determination to oversee a free, fair and acceptable governorship election in Ekiti state.In our effort to meet the international best practices.
According to him,the commission has consistently demonstrated its commitment to develop and sustain structures that support its deepening of democratic practices.
The REC said the forth coming Ekiti state governorship election will surpass the feats the commission achieved previously in Anambra and FCT elections,going by solid preparations ahead of the exercise.
He saluted the effort of the commission and development partner, International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) for holding the recent workshop for the INEC officers, saying” the implementation committee members will impact considerably on the conduct of the June 18th Governorship election,we have put in place effective plans for the dissemination of voter education messages to ensure the active participation of electorate.
He assured the electorate that votes of the electorate will count in the elections,stressing that Ekiti people will wtness an improved electoral process leading to the poll on June 18.

His words” He who fails to plan is planning to fail,we will do everything possible to conduct a free fair,inclusive and acceptable election in the state.
The INEC Chief said 16 Political Parties are in the race to be held in 2,445 Polling Units in the 16 Council Areas of the State.
He added that the Commission is expecting a robust security system from all security agencies to guarantee hitch-free governorship poll.
Tella urged the electorate to comport themselves with decorum to guarantee hitch-free election.
