Moved by its resolve to create the right awareness needed to promote amputee football in the country and take it to an enviable level, the Nigeria Amputee Football Federation (NAFF) has decided to embark on a Nationwide sensitisation tour across the six-geopolitical zones.
President of the amputee federation, Maduakor Chukwudi Paul made this known while speaking with TNSports at the end of the inaugural board meeting of the new NAFF executive under his able leadership.
According to Maduakor, the Nationwide tour, commencing soon will include exhibition games and will be concentrated in states yet to embrace amputee football.
He believes that Nigeria has the talent to dominate world amputee football if the awareness needed to popularise the sport in the country is achieved, while calling for the supports of corporate organisations and philanthropists.
” Yes, we’re talking about taking the sport to local governments first, then we also need to go to states that have not started amputee football. We’ll go there and play exhibition games so that they can see what amputee people can do with their talent in sports.
“We’re beckoning on corporate organisations and philanthropists to come to our aid in driving this project. And we’re also going to make available our materials- tracksuits, jerseys for sales, because if you can buy one, by so doing you’re also contributing to the growth of amputee football,” he added.

“My message to everybody is that we’ll try our possible best to improve the standard of amputee football in Nigeria. We need to be at par with the western world. We should be able to, because we started the sport very early, we should be able to keep on developing and never to go down. We should also look at the possible way of making sure that the standard of living of every amputee footballer is taken care of,” Maduakor added.
He also charged all the zonal representatives to rise up to the challenges ahead by spreading and developing amputee football in all local government areas and cities within their respective zones.
“The only reason they were elected is to represent their zones and by representation they should be able to develop their zones. So is not all about federal affairs, they should be able to develop their zones and states under their jurisdiction and get amputee football running,” he concluded.
