Natasha visits ex-Kogi dep gov Salawu, mourns mother’s death

The Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has paid a condolence visit to former Kogi State Deputy Governor, Dr Philip Salawu, following the death of his mother, Mrs Alice Salawu.
Mrs Salawu, a centenarian, passed away on June 9 at the age of 107, prompting tributes from family members, political associates, and community leaders.
The visit was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the senator’s media aide, Mike Idoko.
During the condolence visit, Akpoti-Uduaghan expressed deep sympathy with the bereaved family, describing the late matriarch as a woman whose long life was marked by faith, resilience, and service to her family and community.
She noted that although the passing of a mother is always painful, the family could take solace in the remarkable lifespan and legacy left behind by the deceased.
“While her passing leaves a great void in the hearts of her loved ones, we must also celebrate a life well spent,” she said, adding that the deceased’s legacy would continue through her children, grandchildren, and generations she influenced.
The senator further prayed for the peaceful repose of Mrs Salawu’s soul and asked God to grant the family strength to bear the loss.
“I extend my sincere condolences to Dr. Philip Omeiza Salawu, his siblings, and the entire Salawu family. May Almighty God grant you comfort, strength, and peace,” she added.
Dr Philip Salawu, who served as Deputy Governor of Kogi State between 2003 and 2012 under former Governor Ibrahim Idris, has continued to receive sympathies following the death of his mother.
