Ogun State CJ calls for support for police to secure lives, property

The Chief Judge (CJ) of Ogun, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, says the Nigeria Police needs the support of all Nigerians to secure lives and property.

The CJ made the call on Thursday while handing over a police post in the state Judiciary complex, in Kobape, Abeokuta.

The CJ also called for cooperation between the judiciary and the police for quick dispensation of justice.
According to her, the police post will boost security at the Judicial complex.

“The complex is exposed to daily traffic of litigants and suspected crime perpetrators who are brought daily for trials

“This initiative will prevent crimes as well as ensure the security of life and property of members of the judiciary and also ensure that security is maintained in neighbouring settlements.

“The people of Kobane, Olipakala and environs are now assured of the presence of the police for the protection of their lives and properties.

“Now that there is a police post attached to this area, it is hoped that the communities around here will make effective use of it by reporting crimes,” she said.

Dipeolu urged the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Lanre Bankole, to charge the officers and men who would be posted to the police post to maintain decorum at all times and respect the rule of law.

The Commissioner of Police assured the people that the police would continue to secure lives and property.

Similarly, Mr Abdul-Rasheed Alimi, the Comptroller of the Ogun Correctional Service Centre, in his goodwill message, appreciated the state government for providing the infrastructure.

Alimi said the construction of the police post would ensure security within the court premises.

He added that it would also ease the workload of officers who escort prisoners to court.

Also, Chief Ogundimu Olubori, the traditional ruler of Itoko who spoke on behalf of other traditional rulers in the community, thanked the Chief Judge for bringing the police post closer to them.

Olubori noted that before now the police post that was available to the community was located at Owoade, a far distance from the community.

He also assured the police that the community would make effective use of the police post by reporting any criminal act. (NAN)
