Rivers United, Enyimba get North African opponents in CAF Confederation Cup

The Nigerian pair of Enyimba International Football Club and Rivers United FC have been drawn against North African opponents in the additional second preliminary round of the 2021/2022 CAF Confederation Cup.

While Rivers United of Port Harcourt has Egyptian side Al Masry to contend with, the Aba-based Enyimba International was drawn against Al Ittihad of Libya.

The draw was held at the Headquarters of Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Cairo, Egypt on Tuesday.

This round of the competition pits the 16 teams which qualified from the Confederation Cup second Preliminary Round against the losing 16 teams from the CAF Champions League second Preliminary Round.

The winners over two legs will advance to the group stage of the competition, with the 16 of them being drawn into four groups of four each.

Head of CAF Competitions, Khaled Nassar, conducted the draw, assisted by Egypt and Zamalek legend Ismail Youssef.

Below are the pairings, with the first leg slated for Nov. 28 and the second leg for Dec. 5, while the first-named team host the first leg:
