NERC Chairman Professor Momoh gives thanks at ECWA Church

By David Onimisi Lawani

The chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, Professor Adeche James Momoh has said he is thankful for what God has done for him over the years particularly at a time that Nigeria and the rest of the world is faced with a deadly pandemic.

Momoh made this disclosure during a thanksgiving service held at the Maitama Evangelical Church Winning All, ECWA, saying he will continue to enjoin everyone to follow suit because anyone who serves God is doing it for his protection and everything that concerns him.

He said since his decision to serve God, he had remained victorious in all his challenges. He stressed further that he had been rescued at different occasions that he couldn’t explain but owe all the success to God who intervened when he least expected.

According to him: ‘’Academically God was by my side. Am on God side, yes I am on his side. Professionally, I went through course through his grace. I wrote 9 books. I became a power professor chair. I became the director of the Centre. The united states government removed from the university to and gave me 4 four years to direct the power project in America.

‘’ In 2017, when I came to this Church, I was asked by the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari to be the Chairman of NERC. I was delayed for 1 year and few months because I had to go through the Senate Committee confirmation. I had to go back and forth to America and Nigeria.

‘’I was attending EWCA Wuse 2. I was attending this church and a Baptist church where I was ordained in America. And, of course you know this is my home church. I was born and ordained in this church. First and foremost, what happened? Because of the senate and executive tangle, because of Magu, they will not take on interview nominee from the president.

He said after he had resigned his job from the university in American to take up the appointment from Mr. President in Nigeria it became a difficult challenge for him because of the crisis that was going on between the two arms of government.

‘’ But, in the presence of all that, God chose one of the Senators to change the mind of the Senate to confirm my confirmation to me as an appointee. Can you imagine what I meant to my family and the United State of America. Are you really sure you care for Nigeria? These were some of the questions being asked by people around me. And, you know I couldn’t get the job back because it has been given out to another person.

‘’ There is P of protection. God can protect you. He can predict the problem before it occurs. God has been protecting me from time before now. There is a third P in a coin. I said you draw a coin. A coin has two sides but I said it has three sides.

‘’ In my testimony, three sides of the coin are why I am here. The third side of the coin is why I am here. And, it is for thanksgiving. And, it is called praise. I am not talking of what I went through. There is a prediction and there is a protection.

Earlier, the officiating Priest, Rev., Dr. Jonah Samson who deliver the homily before the congregants appreciate the power of the Almighty for what he has been doing in the life of all members especially those who have remained under his shield for safety and protection.

Reading from the book of psalm 116:7- 8 he noted further that only thanksgiving could have made God do more because of the recognition for he has done before.

His words: ‘’ The lord has proven himself through his divine grace, favor and protection over my entire family and chosen career. Most of us have our professions”

The thanksgiving had the management team of NERC in attendance as they all came out to rejoice with what the Lord has done in the life of the NERC Chairman despite all that he was confronted with at a time.
