The Nigerian government and the Federative Republic of Brazil on Monday signed a series of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to boost the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
The MoUs were witnessed by President Bola Tinubu and his Brazilian counterpart, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
The arrears of interests between the two countries in the agreements are on Diplomatic Training Cooperation, as Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, and Brazil’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mauro Vieira, signed an MoU on Political Consultations to address bilateral, regional, and international issues of common interest.
The air services bilateral agreement, which aims to boost trade, connectivity, and people-to-people, was signed by Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, and Brazil’s Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, in the presence of President Tinubu and President Silva.
The two Presidents also witnessed the signing of MoU by the Nigeria’s Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, and Brazil’s Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Luciana Santos, on cooperation in biotechnology, bioeconomy, ocean science, innovation ecosystems, energy, space development, digital transformation, and raw materials research.
Nigeria and Brazil also signed an MoU for cooperation on trade and investment promotion, harmonising efforts to expand agricultural financing, investment, and joint projects.
The MoU was signed by the Managing Director of Nigeria’s Bank of Agriculture, Ayo Soterin, and Brazil’s Minister for the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), Aluísio Mercadante, in the presence of their leaders.
