Former Speaker of the House of Representatives and ex-Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, has said he has never seen a Nigerian president with better plans for the country than President Bola Tinubu.
Masari made the remark in a video published on Tuesday by Hausa-language media platform HM Arewa, while addressing a group of women at a public function reportedly held in Kaduna.
The former governor said his assessment was based on his nearly four decades of involvement in Nigerian politics.
“Even if I were asked to swear, on my age and my political involvement for almost 40 years, I can confidently say I have never seen a president with better plans to make Nigeria great than Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I have simply never seen anyone like him,” Masari said.
He dismissed criticisms that the Tinubu administration had achieved nothing, saying previous governments had faced similar attacks despite their policies and programmes.
Masari cited the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, saying it was criticised for alleged sectionalism and tribalism after its first four years in office.
He also noted that former President Goodluck Jonathan faced similar criticisms during his tenure.
The former governor urged Nigerians to assess governments based on their policies and plans rather than ethnic or religious considerations.
He also called on women, particularly those involved in preaching, to use their influence to discourage divisive rhetoric ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Each and every one of you knows how to talk to her husband or children better than anyone else can,” Masari said.
Masari served as Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007 and was governor of Katsina State from 2015 to 2023.
