NSCDC, SON pledge renewed action against fake, substandard products in Anambra

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command has pledged to continue to sustain the existing collaboration between it and the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) as well as other regulatory agencies towards tackling the problems associated with purveyors of substandard and unwholesome products in the State.

Commandant of the NSCDC in the state, Mr.  Everestus C.Obiyo stated this on Wednesday when he received in the audience the new Director of Standards Organisation of Nigeria, Anambra State Directorate, Mr. Don Pedro Papanye Ebenezer at the State Command Headquarters in Awka the state capital.

Mr. Obiyo appreciated the enforcement and compliance roles being played by SON in the quality verification of products aimed at improving lives and the standard of goods in the country.

He urged dealers in various markets in Nigeria to avoid fake products like plagues, warning that the law would not exonerate them for circulating such substandard and unsafe products.

Earlier, Mr. Don Pedro Papanye Ebenezer informed the State Commandant that his visit was to formally introduce himself and to strengthen the cordial relationship between the two agencies in getting rid of fake and substandard products in the State.

According to him, the already existing cordial relationship with the NSCDC has been of immense help to the SON in its enforcement activities.

“We see great result in collaborating with your agency in that regard”, he concluded.

He acknowledged that SON cannot do the assignment alone hence the collaboration with NSCDC had become imperative as part of the inter-agency synergy necessary to stem the incidence of substandard products in the country.
