NTDC pledges to partner Enugu govt. revamp tourism sites

To promote tourism, the Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) has pledged to partner with the Enugu State Government.

The partnership is aimed at revamping abandoned tourism sites in some local government areas in the state.

Mrs. Annette Ibe, NTDC South-East Zonal Coordinator, disclosed this on Thursday at the ongoing 33rd International Trade Fair held in Enugu.

Ibe said the partnership became necessary due to the neglect and abandonment of the tourist sites.

She said when developed the sites would attract foreign tourists and create jobs for youths.

According to her, NTDC will be partnering with some private sectors and the Enugu State Government to ensure that investors put their money into the tourism projects.

“We have discovered some tourist sites in Awgu and Ezeagu LGAs, such as the Ezeagu Waterfalls, and we are planning to visit them to see if they are accessible and to partner with the state government to develop them,” Ibe said.

On why NTDC is participating in the fair, Ibe said, “We are here to showcase and market Nigeria’s tourism assets”.

“As the apex tourism organization in Nigeria charged with the responsibility to market, coordinate and develop tourism assets, our relevance here is crucial.

“I am hopeful that at the end of the fair a lot of awareness will be created, showcasing Nigeria’s artifacts,“ she said. (NAN)
