NWF plans to get more wrestlers for Olympic Games

By Babs Oyetoro
Nigeria Wrestling Federation is working on the possibility of increasing the number of athletes that will feature at the forthcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo later in the year.

Already, five Nigerian wrestlers have secured the ticket for the Olympic Games, but the federation is planning to get two additional tickets to bring Nigeria’s slot to seven.

Commenting on this development, the NWF scribe informed that the federation is planning to raise money to send two wrestlers to the last qualifier scheduled for next month in Bulgaria, at least to increase the numbers of athletes to seven for the Games.

“This is the plan the federation has to increase the numbers of our athletes to seven, but this is subject to availability of funds. That is why the federation is planning to meet with the ministry of sports for financial assistance to enable these two wrestlers – Ogbonna John and Esther Kolawole – to travel for the qualifier in Bulgaria.
