Ondo community residents cry out over rejection of old notes

Economic activities of the four local government inAkoko community of Ondo state has been grounded due to the closure of Banks for the fifth day running in Ikare and the rejection of old notes of N200, N500 and N1000 by the people and even the filling stations with fuel.
The University town of Akungba is depressed as its markets witnessed the mass rejection of old notes by Market Women, and Okada riders and this has gone a long way to destabilise the economy thereby putting citizens in an unnecessary problems and hardships.

He appealed to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to make it compulsory for the Ondo state residents not to reject old notes since the apex bank has given judgement on the extension and the national council of state has also backed the judgement.
Ganiyu appealed to residents to always adhere to government directives and continue to allow old notes as legal tender..Meanwhile, today’s Valentine’s day celebration will witness a very low-key in Akokoland.
Owners of hotels, relaxation centres in Ugbe, Arigidi, Ikare, Oka, Akungba and Supare said this year Valentine was the direct opposite of the previous ones due to lack of patronage due to cash crunch and petrol scarcity ravaging the nation.
