COOUTH inducts 85 new medical doctors in Anambra

The Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University College of Medicine (COOUCOM) Anambra State has inducted 85 new medical doctors who successfully completed their necessary training in various medical fields in the state

Vice-Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Prof Greg Nwakoby who performed the induction ceremony urged the newly inducted medical doctors to always observe professionalism in their practices.

He also called on the new medical doctors to handle every patient with care and seriousness.

He noted that medical doctors are for those who are called to the profession and not for all comers, noting that if one is called and he observed the rules , the person will do well.
Nwakoby said that medical doctors is not about making money but serving humanity and saving lives.

“I call on you you to render this service selflessly as medical doctors. Your profession is such that you handle human lives. Medical doctor is based on divine call and if you are not called, you will be a medical carpenter” he said.

He expressed confident on the quality of medical Doctors being produced by the institution, giving the hi-tech equipment and the quality of staff in the institution.

The Chief Medical Director CMD, of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital COOUTH, Hon. Joe Akabuike said that despite the covid 19 pandemic and residents’ doctors’ strike, the institution produced quality and sound medical doctors.

He said, the institution is doing very well and that was the reason most doctors are poached by foreign countries immediately after graduation.

He showered gratitude for the number of medical doctors the institution produced and urged them to always display professionalism in their practices.

While the provost of the college Prof. Emmanuel Ojiyi said that he can vouch for the quality of medical doctors the institution was releasing to the public.

NYSC inducts 890 corps members in Borno

According to him, the quality of medical doctors the college produce is comparable to any doctor anywhere in the world.

He said that the institution does not only produce for Nigeria but for the world, noting that he was confident that they will excel where they find themselves.

Ojiyi however ,admonished the new medical doctors to be patient in their practice,stating that whoever that fronted money first in the practice may not achieve success.

He added that the essence of medical practice was to save lives and not to get rich overnight.
