Disquiet in the military as terrorists kill two officers, one soldier in Abuja

By Linus Aleke
There is a disquiet in the military circle, as terrorists kill two officers, and one soldier, in ambush at Buwari Area Council, in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The terrorists had on Sunday in a video threatened to come for president Muhammad Buhari, Governor Nair El-Rufai of Kaduna State and other Very Important Personalities (VIP), in this administration.

However, what the killing of the elitist presidential guard in Abuja presupposes is that the terrorists had dared federal government to its face, and made true its threat by abducting the president, a governor and other VIPs.

Yesterday, the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Guards Brigade, Captain Godfrey Abakpa confirmed that the soldiers were attacked but repelled successfully.

He noted that the wounded soldiers were evacuated to a medical facility and are receiving treatment.

According to him, “They were attacked and the attack was successfully repelled. We had few wounded in action who have been takitakenng to the hospital and received treatments. At the moment our troops are still combing the general area to get rid of the criminals that have been threatening the general area. It is advised that residents go about their lawful businesses and keep cooperating with us by giving us timely information to enable us win the fight against the criminals.”

Meanwhile, an impeccable source in the military told our correspondent that the death was not confirmed yesterday because the authorities did not want the families to get the news of the death of their bread winners in the news.

He however, regretted that some deviant media platforms still went ahead to report the death of the officers and soldier.

Nevertheless, the internet is also flooded with unverified information that no fewer than thirteen soldiers and one officer were also abducted by the terrorists during the ambush.

The military authorities has however, dismissed the trending social media report, insisting that none of the elitist soldiers and officers were kidnapped by terrorists.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the Guard Brigade, Captain Godfrey Abakpa, while refuting the claim said that in a war situation, soldiers could retreat in different directions and reunite with their unit later.

He explained that retreating to different directions does not amount to kidnapping by the terrorist or missing soldiers.

Recall that Senator Shehu Sani earlier intimated Nigerians on social media that there wad a plot to hand over reign of power to Boko Haram and Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP), as part of the covert plan to Islamize Nigeria.

The incumbent administration has consistently debunked this rumors.

However, another story attributed to Senator Shehu Sani, Which he is yet debunk as at the time of filling this report surfaced online after the terrorist ambush on the presidential guard.

The trending story reads in part, “The game going on at Abuja right now has already been known and revealed. I once posted it here, that this government is going to hand over to Boko Haram and ISWAP. The lslamization agenda has finally been activated. Terrorists have been fully armed with billions of naira acquired through ransom paid to them by Aso Rock and by innocent individuals whom they have extorted,” the report reads.

“If the presidential elitist force could be ambushed and some murdered while others allegedly abducted by rat tag terrorists, what then will be the fate of ordinary resident of the city,” a concern citizen queried.
