An elderly man committed suicide at Gaida Yankusa in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano state.

According to eyewitnesses, the man was found hanging while on their way to the mosque for morning prayer on Wednesday,6th April.

A resident who spoke to Daily Trust said the man was untied and did everything possible to know the identity of the man but prove abortive.

“We just came out and saw the corpse hung to the tree. He’s an elderly person, he looks responsible and shows no sign of poverty. Maybe some other issues. His hair is full of grey hair from his head to his beard,” he said.

The body of the deceased was subsequently taken to the mortuary in Kano.

The spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa also confirmed the incident and added that the deceased was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.
