Oyo APC urges Tinubu, Makinde to tackle rising insecurity

The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on President Bola Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde to take urgent steps to address the growing wave of insecurity in the state and across the country.

The call was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Wasiu Sadare, who urged the Makinde administration to work closely with security agencies and other stakeholders to curb the increasing security challenges in Oyo State.

The opposition party appealed to the Tinubu administration, the Oyo State Government and local government authorities to implement lasting measures to protect lives and property.

“We use this medium to appeal to the relevant authorities at the federal, state and local government levels to take a critical look at the security architecture of Oyo State with a view to tightening all the loose ends and ensure maximum protection of lives and properties of the citizens regardless of their background, economic or socio-political status,” the statement said.

The APC expressed concern over what it described as a worsening security situation in the state, urging Governor Makinde to seek broader support in tackling the challenge.

“No citizen deserves to live in perpetual fear and anxiety as it is the situation with the residents of Oyo State at the moment and it is on this premise that we call on Gov. Makinde to come from his high horse and seek help where necessary so that the situation does not degenerate further. As it stands, nobody is safe anywhere in the state and it has never been this bad,” the party added.

Meanwhile, the APC’s 2027 governorship hopeful, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has condemned the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.

In a separate statement issued on Wednesday, Alli expressed deep concern over the attack on schools, describing it as another indication of the need for stronger security measures across the state.

According to him, the incident has reinforced the urgency of strengthening the state’s security architecture to protect residents and educational institutions.

He also appealed to residents to remain vigilant and support law enforcement agencies by providing credible information that could aid ongoing rescue efforts and security operations.
