Oyo state government accused of discrimination by traditional worshippers

A peaceful protest was staged by the Traditional Religion Worshippers’ Association in Oyo state yesterday.
The protest, which was to air their grievances with the perceived discrimination meted out to them by the Oyo state government, was staged in front of the Oyo State Government Secretariat Complex.
Dr Fayemi Fakayode, the General Secretary of the association, revealed that Gov Seyi Makinde’s administration has not been favourable to them as traditional worshippers and as such, they are seeking the government treat them fairly.
They also used the opportunity to urge Christians, Muslims and other religious affiliations to appeal to the government to grant August 20th as a public holiday for traditional worshippers.
Odukoya Sunday, Executive Assistant to the Governor on Security Matters, assured the protesters that they are not been discriminated against and their message would be relayed to the governor.
