There was pandemonium among residents of Oko Polytechnic and Ekwuluobia communities in Orumba South and Aguata local government areas of Anambra State on Monday following heavy shootings by unknown Gunmen over failure by people to obey the weekly Sit-At-Home directive by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The incident occurred at the boundary between both communities in the state.
It was learned that suspected POB members stormed the boundary and started shooting sporadically, causing tension among residents in the area.
Source disclosed that the shooting forced indigenes and residents to scamper for safety.
However, a Toyota Sienna vehicle belonging to an unidentified indigene of Isuofia, a neighbouring community to Ekwulobia was torched in the process.
According to the source, “The man was driving past at the area when the men started shooting. He left his carbon in the middle of the road and ran for his dear life, but before he could return, the men had set it ablaze.”
Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Command DSP Ikenga Tochukwu confirmed the incident.
