Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike has again said that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar assured him that the party National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu would resign after the PDP primaries.
Wike made this known in a recent interview with BBC news.
The governor disclosed that Atiku had come to him and suggested that Ayu had to be fired as the PDP national chairman after the party’s primaries as his continued role was against the party’s zoning rule.

“We went to my office in my Abuja home. You know my rage or one of the things that caused my rage.
“I discussed with you (Atiku), I respected you, you told me something, but I didn’t realize you weren’t being completely honest with me about it.It’s quite acceptable for a leader to say, “Look, I don’t think this can work right now; I prefer it.”
“Even worse, it came out of you on your own volition when, as we were sitting down, Atiku said, “Look, he has to come to see me.” I said, “Fine, no problem.” He responded, “Well, the primaries have passed.” I replied, “No problem. I know you thought I would go to court. No, I won’t go to court. I don’t want our party to die.”
“He responded, “Okay, I suppose Ayu has to leave. When I asked why,” he replied, “It’s not customary for the chairman and the presidential candidate to come from the same zone.” Wike said
