Some Nigerian athletes have taken to the streets of Tokyo, Japan to protest their disqualification from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU).
The AIU had disqualified ten Nigerian athletes over their ineligibility to participate in the games due to failure to meet the minimum testing requirements under Rule 15 of the Anti-Doping Rules for ‘Category A’ federations
Protesting AIU’s ruling, the affected athletes bore placards that read “We are not just alternates but potential medalists”, “Dreams shattered”, “All we want to do is compete”.
