Former Plateau Governor, Sen. Jonah Jang has advised youths in the state against taking laws into their hands, as the leadership crisis rocking the state House of Assembly persists.
Jang gave the advice in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Jos.
He said that he understood the frustrations of the youths, assuring that an amicable solution would be found.
“I call on them (youths) to resist the temptation of taking laws into their hands, as two wrongs can never make a right.
“The unfortunate happenings in the state House of Assembly in the last couple of days call for, not only the intervention of all well-meaning Plateau elders and stakeholders but also, people of goodwill who love the state and hold it dear to their hearts.
“We are indeed witnesses to the drama which has engulfed the state assembly simply because a section of the government wants the speaker out at all costs.

“The removal of a speaker or change of leadership in legislative houses might not be new, but when the process is abused and goes against the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, it is wrong.
“People must work together to ensure the stability of the house which, in any case, is made up of those they voted to represent them and work for their welfare and in their best interests,” he said.
Jang noted that democracy had come of age in Nigeria, adding that those of them who were in the trenches fighting for the return to the democratic rule would not fold their arms and watch their labors being washed down the drain.
