Police arraign man for allegedly stealing diesel

The Police on Wednesday arraigned a security guard, Babatunde Oluwadare before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing 1,070 liters of diesel valued at N256,800.
The defendant, 40, whose address was not provided, is standing trial for stealing.

offense on June 24 at about 12:00 a.m. at Nova Road in Ado-Ekiti.
Adeniyi alleged that the defendant and one other now at large stole 1,070 liters of diesel valued at N256,800, property of Europol Security Company, Ado-Ekiti.
He told the court that the defendant, who was a security guard at the company, allegedly stole the diesel used in servicing the telecommunication mast.
He said the offense contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable him to present his witnesses.
Counsel to the defendant, Mr. Abiola Gboyega, urged the court to grant his client bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
The Magistrate, Mrs. Mojisola Salau, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Salau said the sureties must be relatives of the defendant.
She adjourned the case until July 22 for mention.
