
The Police in Ekiti on Wednesday, arraigned a 28-year-old man, Afolabi Femi, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ekiti for allegedly stealing seven drums of paint valued at N2.2 million.
The defendant of no fixed address is standing trial on a charge of stealing.
The police prosecutor, Insp Johnson Okunade, told the court that the defendant committed the offense on Oct.29, 2021, in Ado-Ekiti.
Okunade alleged that the defendant stole seven drums of ATM paint and different other paints valued at N2.2 million belonging to one Mrs. Grace Akindahunsi.
He said the offense contravened Section 383 and was punishable under Section 390(6) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The defendant pleaded not guilty.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Titilayo Ola-Olorun, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case till March 3 for a hearing.
