Reprieve is yet to come the way of suspended Caretaker Committee chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Anambra state Child basil Ejidike as he may face charges of corruption before the anti-corruption agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of sharp practices before and during the party’s governorship primary election.
Besides, opposition groups against Ejidike’s chairmanship are set to serve him with contempt of court charges if he continues to parade himself as the chairman of the party.
Chief Ejidike, it would be recalled was suspended by the party last week by aggrieved members of the APC in the state.
The leader of the group that suspended Ejidike in an interview with newsmen on Friday in Awka the state capital cautioned that they would not hesitate to drag the embattled former APC state chairman before the EFCC for alleged extortion from 13 Governorship aspirants of the party under the guise of giving them the party’s ticket.
The APC leader said, “We are aware of the fact that he Basil Ejidike has been parading himself as the chairman of the party despite the suspension and the Appeal Court judgment”
“We are also aware that he has been holding meetings with some party mmemberspresiding as the state chairman of the party which is criminal and illegal.”
Three days ago an Appeal Court sitting in Enugu had sacked the former APC chairman from office and reinstated Barr Emeka Ibe as chairman of the party in Anambra state.
But Ejidike has insisted that he remains the chairman of the party, arguing that both the suspension and the court judgment are of no effect.
According to the chieftain of the APC, “In the light of the above, we have commenced processes of informing the EFCC about his corrupt practices during the primary select byion of the party.”
“For not obeying the judgment of the Enugu Court of Appeal he shall be served with forms 48 and forms 49 for contempt of the judgment of the court that is tantamount to going to jail.”
“You all know what happened to Samuel Doe of Liberia who was advised by the United States of America government to leave office and get a soft landing in America and he refused and we all know what happened at the end,” he stated.
