Salah talks tough, says Pharaohs ‘ll fight to the last

Three-time African champions, Super Eagles should be ready for a tough war when they face the Pharaohs of Egypt in their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group D opener on January 11 at the Roumdé Adjia Stadium, Garoua, Cameroon

The Pharaohs’ captain, Mohammed Salah in a message to his countrymen and women via an Instagram post, declared that not even the Super Eagles or the other 23 teams in the competition can stop them from battling to the top of the championship which kicks off on January 9 in Cameroon.

The seven-time African will also keep dates with Guinea-Bissua and Sudan in the Group D with the best two progresssing into the knockout stage.

“The road is not easy, but we will fight to get back with the cup. Stay behind us #Encourage_Egypt,” wrote the Liverpool man.

Egypt were eliminated in the last 16 of their last AFCON tournament in 2019, with Salah playing the full 90 minutes of their 1-0 defeat to South Africa.

However, this time around they have been tipped are among the favourites for the title.They were one of eight teams to make it through qualifying without defeat, finishing above Comoros, Kenya and Togo to secure their place at the tournament.
